Love From Dublin

We are delighted our Festival is a part of 2014’s celebration of Irish culture, sport, and history taking place around the island of Ireland. Many events are centered in Dublin where you can attend the Festival concerts while also exploring the rich heritage and exciting nightlife of the city.

Not least, we welcome the participants, as they devote themselves to learning all they can from these master pianists in both the private and group master class setting and by observing other performances. In addition, Feldenkrais classes will teach students bodily awareness, how to move more naturally while avoiding pain and injury. And a seminar by a top performance psychologist will help students deal better with issues related to performing for audiences. We also can’t wait to introduce you to a little of Irish culture, to sample some Guinness together and show you some the most beautiful sites beyond Dublin city, while resting those hands! And after all the hard work is done, we invite you to perform for real audiences in a variety of settings, including an outreach concert for the residents at Harold's Cross Hospice and a final recital at the prestigious National Concert Hall in Dublin.
Drink Some Guinness
With so many delights in store, whether you are a music lover who loves nothing better than immersing oneself in great piano playing, or an experienced pianist looking to hone your talents, we are very much looking forward to welcoming you!

We at Classical Music magazine are very pleased to be official media partners of the first Dublin International Piano Festival and Summer Academy in conjunction with our sister title International Piano. It is a first for Dublin and an important addition to Ireland’s rich musical culture. Both Archie Chen and Rhona Gouldson have proved themselves not just as musicians but also as committed music educators, and their stewardship will guarantee that the 15 participants will take away a great deal from the experience. Audiences can also be sure of high musical standards throughout, and a real insight into what it takes for a young pianist to make it. Classical Music wishes the DIPF team all the best for their first festival – and the many more that are sure to follow it.
