Tham Horng Kent started taking piano lessons at the age of 10 and graduated from the University Putra Malaysia in 2009 with first class honours in Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. Whilst studying for a Bachelor of Music at UPM, Horng Kent has participated in many master classes with notable industry professionals such as Mr. Paul Rickard-Ford, David G. Robinson and Julian Jacobson. He was an Award Winner for obtaining the Licentiate of Trinity College London in 2009 and Fellowship of Trinity College London. He was chosen as one of the semi-finalists of the Kerikeri International Piano Competition 2012 in New Zealand and awarded a full scholarship by the Malaysian Higher Education Ministry to pursue his Doctorate in Music Performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin, where he is currently studying under Peter Maurice Tuite.
