Detailed description:

Mission
The purpose of the DIPF is to bring Irish audiences outstanding pianists and piano pedagogues from around the world. Within its focus, the DIPF features an annual festival, which frames performances and master classes by guest artists internationally.

Description
During this program, students will benefit from private instruction from Artist Faculty Members, the opportunity to play in a public master class by Faculty Members, and several performance opportunities, including a final recital taking place at Dublin’s National Concert Hall. The teaching at DIPF stresses an ethic based on support rather than competition. In addition to emphasizing the solo repertoire, students also explore the duo piano literature.

Every student will receive four one-hour private lessons and will have practice time during their stay. Other musical opportunities will be offered, such as concerts by guest performers, lectures on topics related to piano playing, and seminar courses on subjects such as piano literature, practice methods and performance psychology.

General Information
Designed to foster the highest excellence in piano playing, this of intensive program will split between the peaceful village of Rathgar and the National Concert Hall, located only 10 minutes away. Only ten minutes from Dublin City Centre, Rathgar is an ideal setting for focused learning, while retaining all the benefits of the rich culture of city, only a short bus ride away. DIPF also offers an opportunity for pianists to nurture their own friendships, performance opportunities, and contacts with the residents of the community. Dublin attracts visitors from around the world, while local residents of Rathgar include renowned authors, artists and musicians. Students enjoy summer in Dublin, known for famous nightlife as well as lovely natural settings. DIPF is an ideal place to try out concert programs and to prepare for competitions.  For decades, Ireland has been the center of a great musical and artistic culture. The warm and welcoming music audience of Dublin is one of the friendliest in the world. Every year the city witnesses numerous local concert series, music festivals, and competitions. The DIPF differs from other local events in that it invites both local and international pianists to share their talents and diverse musical backgrounds with the eager and friendly ears of Dubliners.

Concert tickets range from €5 - €20.

Why we need your pledge?
As this is only our third year, DIPF is seeking sponsors to help take the burden of private funding off of the festival directors’ shoulders. All expenses are being paid completely out-of-pocket.

Funding is needed for: artist and teacher fees, promotional costs, and hall and piano hire. In an act of gratitude, we at DIPF can offer free tickets, as well as other incentives, for even the smallest donation. In a time of economic crisis, the Arts should not be put on the back-burner, but rather celebrated. We need your help to ensure that Dublin retains its strong connotation with being a city filled with music and culture!

Ireland’s most respected pianist and honorary patron of the Festival, Dr. John O’ Conor says:
Stacks Image 3033
It is indeed a pleasure to be associated with the Dublin International Piano Festival and Summer Academy. The festival is a much welcomed addition to the cultural landscape of Dublin City, and will further enhance the reputation of our capital city as a hub of piano and classical music excellence.
John O' Conor
We urge you to please consider supporting our festival during DIPF’s fourth year. In a year that Ireland has dedicated to celebrating Irish culture and the influence the Irish people have on the rest of the world, volunteering to be a benefactor of such an event would tremendously help towards the foundation of a renowned piano festival in Dublin. What better way to represent Irish culture than through music?
